Can you tell which one grammatically correct?
Your too shy.
You're too shy.
What about this one?
Here's your bag. Here's you're bag.
Still confused? Just can’t get it?
No worries, I will try my very best to help understand.
Yes, I know that there are many of sites and books out there that covers this common mistake but here’s my take on it.
First off, know that “YOU’RE” is an abbreviation(short form) for “YOU ARE”
Next, “YOUR” refers to something/someone that belongs to you.
So every time before you want to say or write something that involves the confusion of these two words, ALWAYS TRY BOTH words to see which one fits.
Like the examples above, try out both words and see of it makes sense.
The correct term is;
YOU’RE too shy
as in…
YOU ARE too shy
and
Here’s YOUR bag
because ‘Here’e YOU ARE bag‘ does not make any sense.
Also here’s a tip I found elsewhere,
YOUR will never be followed by the words; the, a, an.
I hope this clears things up for you if you did not understand it earlier.
